The Williams YMCA of Avery County

Out of School Programs

The Out of School program operates after school from 2:30 to 6:00 PM and 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM in the summer and on school holidays and snow days – or when most parents must be at work. The After School Program is designed to provide children in gradesK-12 with a safe, developmentally rich environment in the hours when they are most at risk for involvement with negative behaviors and being victimized. Activities include tutoring, homework assistance, STEM   education, critical thinking games, field trips…. Research shows that kids involved in out of school high yield learning perform better academically, have a better attitude toward school, and have greater self-esteem.
