Youth in Government is a national YMCA program for high school students that prepares them for moral and political leadership through training in the theory and practice of developing public policy. Diverse students from across the state experience the governmental process first- hand. Regionals and Pre- Conference meetings introduce students to the program and prepare them for the Conference in February.
They are split by region and take place on weekend days in October and December. During the four- day conference in Raleigh the bills developed by delegations are debated in committees, then on the floor of the House and/or Senate and, if passed, sent on to the Youth Governor.
