Water Fitness

Did you know that a 30 minute walk in the water is equivalent to a two hour walk on land? Water resistance offers low-impact muscle toning and body sculpting. It lowers the risk of injury by lessening the impact on weight-bearing joints, muscles and bones. Water also cools the body during exercise which reduces stress on the heart. At the Y, we offer a deep-water class and a shallow-water class to suit all needs. Each class is designed to give your body a workout while taking away the stress that comes with land-based exercise—combining water-resistance exercise with aerobic activity for a total body workout.
