5 year old Max Beretsky loves soccer; however, for the past two seasons he has refused to take the field. After much coaxing from his mother, his coaches and the YMCA youth soccer league Max finally overcame his fear this spring soccer season! The shy little boy who refused to play finally came out of his shell scoring multiple goals and encouraging the younger players on his team to participate this season. Max has been involved in both Y soccer and Y summer camp for the past two years and has grown tremendously as a person and an athlete. Thanks to great coaching from Eric and Amanda Sorrow, YMCA volunteer soccer coaches, Max was able to overcome his fear and take the field more confident than ever! Max is 3rd from the left in piture below:
Here is what Max's mother had to say, "I started Max and spring soccer at age 3 at first he didn't not like it at all but I stuck with it and he stuck with it that following summer. He did this summer's day camp at the YMCA, which was amazing since then he has played spring soccer again and was one of the top scorers on the team! The coaches were so helpful and the youth director helped me find the perfect placement as far as teammates and a coach to help his social emotional and physical development. I could not be happier with his progress and the support I have gotten from the YMCA!"
